Privacy policy

LaterUp is run by MASSIO LIMITED. This page says what we store, why, and what you can do about it, in plain words. Questions go to contact@laterup.com.
What we store
- Your account: your email address, a username made from it, and your password in hashed form. We never store or see the password itself.
- What you save: folder names, and for each saved video its web address, title, picture address, site name, your note and the time you saved it.
- Your plan: whether the account is on Free or Pro.
- Sign-in tokens: the browser extension keeps a sign-in token in the browser's extension storage; the iPhone app keeps one in the device keychain so the share sheet can use the same sign-in. Signing out removes it.
- Technical records: our web server keeps ordinary access logs (time, address requested, IP address, browser) for a short period to keep the service running and to stop abuse.
How saving works
- The browser extensions (Chrome and other Chromium browsers, Safari) read a page only when you click the LaterUp icon or choose Save from the right-click menu, and only to get that page's address, title and picture. They do not watch what you browse.
- When you add a video by its address, or share one to LaterUp from another app, our server fetches that page once to read its title and picture. The site you took the video from sees our server, not you.
- We do not download, copy or host the videos you save. Only the link and its description are stored. The video plays on the site it came from, under that site's rules and privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not show advertising.
- We do not use analytics or tracking services on the site, in the extensions or in the apps.
- We do not track you across other websites.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in on the site. It is essential to the service, holds no tracking identifier, and is removed when you sign out. The site remembers your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
Who else handles your data
- Hosting: the service runs on a hosting provider's servers, which may be in a country other than yours; the provider stores the data for us and does not use it.
- Email: confirmation and password-reset messages are sent through a mail provider, which sees your email address.
- Apple and Google: if you install the app from the App Store or Google Play, or buy Pro there, the store handles the download and the payment under its own privacy policy and tells us only whether a subscription is active. Crash reports reach us only if you have allowed that on your device.
We share nothing else with anyone unless the law requires it.
Why we are allowed to (GDPR and UK GDPR)
We process your account and what you save because you asked us to provide the service (contract). We keep short-lived technical logs to keep the service secure (legitimate interest). We send you only service emails, no marketing, unless you ask for it later.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. When an account is deleted, its folders and saved links are deleted at once. Backups and server logs age out on their own schedule within a few weeks after that. An unconfirmed sign-up that is never confirmed is removed.
Your choices and rights
- See, change and delete what you saved at any time on the site, in the extension or in the app.
- Delete your account yourself from the Account page on the site or in the app; everything in it goes with it.
- Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by writing to contact@laterup.com. We answer within a month.
- If you are in the UK or the EU you also have the other rights the GDPR gives you, including the right to object and to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Children
The service is not meant for children under 13, or under the age your country sets for consenting to online services. We do not knowingly keep accounts for them; tell us and we will remove one.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and, where it is significant, by email.
